Loch Palm Golf Club occupies a peaceful valley in Kathu, directly adjacent to Red Mountain Golf Club — both courses are owned and operated by MBK Public Co. Ltd. Designed by Thai architect Dr. Sukitti Klangwisai and opened in 1996, Loch Palm is built around Crystal Lake, a large reservoir that frames the back nine and gives the course its distinctive visual identity. The layout stretches to 6,555 yards at par 72 and is widely described as Phuket's most relaxed four-star golf experience — consistently well-maintained, free of the intense difficulty that defines Red Mountain next door, and well-suited to a mixed-ability group that wants a scenic round without the pressure of a prestige venue. Carts are optional here, unlike at Red Mountain, making it one of the few Phuket courses where walking is genuinely viable.

Layout & playing experience
The 18-hole course plays across a valley setting framed by Phuket's central limestone hills. The front nine opens across relatively wide, tree-lined fairways before the back nine wraps around Crystal Lake, where several holes play along the water's edge and require accurate approaches to greens that slope toward the hazard. Greens are maintained to Japonica Zoysia grass and run at a stimp reading of approximately 8.5 — medium-fast and consistent. Fairways use Matrella Zoysia, delivering a clean lie and reliable yardage. The course favours accuracy over length: birdie opportunities exist for players who hit fairways, while the lake-side holes on the back nine create scoring swings in either direction. Difficulty is moderate — comfortable for high-handicap visitors, still engaging for lower handicappers who want a less punishing day than Red Mountain provides. The proximity of the two courses makes Loch Palm a natural second-round option for visitors staying in Phuket for several nights.
Tips & what to know before you go
Loch Palm is an excellent choice for late-morning or afternoon tee times — the valley location provides more shade than Red Mountain's open terrain. Cart-free play (walking with a caddie) is genuinely practical on this flatter layout and makes for a more relaxed pace if your group prefers it. The driving range, chipping area, and putting green allow for a proper warm-up before your round; allow 30–45 minutes if you want to use the full practice facilities. Booking through the MBK Golf website (same operator as Red Mountain) allows you to plan both courses in one transaction. Pro-shop vouchers are regularly included with green fee packages — worth using at the restaurant for post-round lunch.
