Siam Country Club Pattaya's Plantation Course is a 27-hole championship layout opened in 2008, designed by Schmidt-Curley Design on land that was once an active pineapple plantation. The three nine-hole loops — named Sugar Cane, Tapioca, and Pineapple after the crops historically grown on the property — are routed across a dramatically rolling hillside that stands in striking contrast to the flat terrain typical of most Bangkok-area courses. The Plantation is home to the only 'Triple Greens' complex in Asia: a single putting surface shared by the closing holes of three different nines, covering almost 3,000 square metres. Golfers can choose any combination of two nines for an 18-hole round, giving the course an unusual degree of variety and replayability.

Layout & playing experience
The Plantation's terrain is its defining characteristic. Significant elevation changes run throughout all three nines, creating sidehill and downhill lies that demand careful club selection and an adaptable ball flight. Deep bunkering is a consistent feature, and many approach shots are played to elevated or terraced greens that require a precise trajectory. The Sugar Cane nine tends to reward the longer hitter, while the Tapioca nine offers more risk-and-reward opportunities from the tee. The Pineapple nine includes the course's most scenic stretches, with panoramic ridgeline views across the Pattaya hinterland. The shared Triple Greens at the conclusion of each nine provide a finishing spectacle that is unique in the region. Caddies are mandatory and drive the carts, which helps maintain a steady pace on a course where the varied terrain can slow play.
Tips & what to know before you go
Golfers visiting both the Old Course and the Plantation on the same trip should consider the Plantation for their second round — the elevation changes and more open fairways make it a refreshing contrast. Choose your nine-hole combination based on the time of day: the more shaded Tapioca and Sugar Cane nines are preferable in the midday heat. Allow extra time for the round — the terrain slows pace naturally. The caddie's knowledge of the Triple Greens complex is essential, as reading putts across three shared surfaces requires local expertise.
Location & getting there
The Plantation Course shares the same Siam Country Club complex as the Old Course, located approximately 130km southeast of Bangkok in Pong district, Bang Lamung, Chonburi. The drive from Bangkok takes around 100 minutes via Highway 7. From central Pattaya, the complex is approximately 20 minutes by car. Grab or a pre-arranged transfer from Bangkok or Pattaya hotels is the practical option for independent visitors.
