Rayong Green Valley Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course in Ban Chang, Rayong, designed by Peter Thomson and opened in 1992. The Thomson design sits on hillside terrain near the Gulf of Thailand and makes use of the landscape's natural features — large rocky outcrops, boulders, cacti, and native vegetation — to frame holes and introduce natural hazards that are distinctly different from the constructed bunkers and water of most Pattaya-region courses. The course stretches to 6,980 yards and is noted for its scenic hillside character — a setting that distinguishes it from the predominantly flat resort courses in the Pattaya area. Green fees sit at 3,350 THB weekday and 3,550 THB weekend — mid-premium pricing comparable to other established Pattaya courses of its age and design pedigree.

Layout & playing experience
The Peter Thomson design plays along the side of a hill, which means elevation changes are a constant feature rather than an occasional surprise. Holes run up, across, and down the hillside, creating genuine variety in the visual and physical challenge from shot to shot. The rocky outcrops and boulders that Thomson incorporated as natural features define some of the most photographed holes on the course — they serve as both obstacles and framing devices that create compositional interest from the tee. Bunkers are positioned intelligently in Thomson's characteristic style, inviting an aggressive carry line over them while leaving enough room for shorter hitters to layup and still make par. The gulf views from elevated holes are a notable visual reward on a clear day. The greens are mature and well-established, having had over 30 years to develop root systems consistent with the surrounding terrain.
Tips & what to know before you go
Rayong Green Valley is in Rayong province, approximately 40 minutes beyond central Pattaya city — this makes it best suited to golfers already staying in or near Pattaya or Rayong, or as part of a multi-day eastern seaboard trip. The hilly terrain means walking the course is physically demanding; confirm caddie and cart policies before arrival. Rocky terrain and native vegetation adjacent to fairways can create unusual lies or recovery challenges not found on conventional resort courses — factor this into your game plan. The cool season (November–February) offers the best combination of temperature and gulf breeze conditions. Booking is done through golf agents; confirm the phone number (search results show the same numbers as a nearby course in the same area).
Location & getting there
Rayong Green Valley Country Club is located approximately 190km southeast of central Bangkok at 9/36 Moo 7, Samnakthon, Ban Chang, Rayong 21130. The drive from Bangkok takes around 135 minutes via the Bang Na–Trat Expressway (Highway 7) and onward through Pattaya. The course is roughly 40 minutes by car from central Pattaya. Pre-arranged golf transfers from Pattaya or Bangkok hotels are the recommended transport option.
