Blue Canyon Country Club — Lakes Course

18 holes · Par 72Designed by Yoshikazu KatoEst. 1999

Weekday green fee

1,850THB

Blue Canyon Country Club's Lakes Course is the younger sibling to the celebrated Canyon Course, sharing the same Thalang property and clubhouse facilities but offering a distinctly different golf experience. Designed by Yoshikazu Kato and opened in February 1999, the Lakes Course takes its name from the series of large, scenic lakes that define the layout — former tin mine excavations transformed into sweeping water hazards. At 7,129 yards from the championship tees, the Lakes Course is marginally shorter than the Canyon Course, with a more open, resort-style character. It tends to attract players who want a high-quality round in a spectacular setting without the same degree of technical difficulty as the Canyon. The significantly lower green fee makes it an excellent-value option for a second day of golf or for visitors whose handicap would find the Canyon Course punishing.

Layout & playing experience

The par-72 layout is defined by water: multiple holes require accurate drives and approach shots over or alongside large lakes, and the risk/reward element is consistently present without becoming oppressive. The fairways are more generous than the Canyon Course and the terrain flatter, making it more walker-friendly — though carts are still compulsory. Greens are large and true, rewarding consistent ball-striking over the punch-and-run strategy that works well on the Canyon. For higher handicappers, the Lakes Course is the more comfortable of the two Blue Canyon tracks — enough water to keep things interesting, but manageable for visitors who score in the 90s. For low handicappers, the course's width and pace of play make it a good option for working on course management or playing a casual final-day round. The shared facilities with the Canyon Course — driving range, practice putting green, restaurant, spa, and accommodation — are among the best available at any Phuket golf venue.

Tips & what to know before you go

The Lakes Course is an ideal choice if you're planning two rounds at Blue Canyon: start with Lakes in the morning and follow up with the Canyon Course in the afternoon, or on a second day. Tee times are generally easier to secure here than for the Canyon, even during high season. For golfers prone to losing balls on water holes, bring extra sleeves — several long par-4s require carries over lake edges from the tee. Ask your caddie about the wind: the open layout means breeze affects approach shots more than on the more sheltered Canyon Course. Green fees are substantially lower than the Canyon Course, making this an exceptional-value round by Phuket standards.

Location & getting there

The Lakes Course sits within the Blue Canyon Country Club property at 165 Moo 1, Thepkasattri Road, Thalang district, approximately 10 km from Phuket International Airport — around 15–20 minutes by car. All visitors from Bangkok fly (approximately 1 hour 20 minutes). From Patong Beach, the drive is approximately 35–40 minutes. Grab or hotel transfers are the recommended transport; both courses share the same clubhouse and car park.
