Mountain Shadow Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course in Mueang, Chonburi, designed by Ronald Fream and David Dale of Golfplan and originally opened in 1993. The course was formerly known as Natural Park Hill and later Panya Hill before a renovation and rebrand brought it to its current name. The course was carved from a former mango plantation and the trees remain a defining landscape feature, with flowers and vegetation providing a backdrop to many holes. Four island greens are among the most distinctive design elements, presenting visual spectacle alongside genuine challenge. At approximately 1,400 THB for a round, Mountain Shadow offers accessible pricing for what is a well-regarded Golfplan design. Its location between Bangkok and Pattaya — roughly halfway along Highway 7 — makes it one of the more conveniently placed courses for a day trip from the city.

Layout & playing experience

The Golfplan design makes creative use of the former mango plantation's terrain, incorporating doglegs, water hazards, and four island greens as its primary strategic elements. The island greens are the most discussed feature among regular players — each demands a precise approach with little margin for error, as the surrounding water allows no recovery from a short or overcooked shot. The tree-lined fairways created by the remaining mango plantation create a corridor feel and add a degree of shade, making the course more playable during the hotter months than fully exposed layouts. Water features are used as both visual elements and strategic hazards, with the doglegs on several holes requiring a decision between the aggressive carry and the safe layup. The greens at Mountain Shadow are described as having large undulations at average speed.

Tips & what to know before you go

Mountain Shadow is one of the closest Pattaya-area courses to Bangkok, sitting approximately 85km and 65 minutes from central Bangkok — making it a genuine half-day option from the city without requiring an overnight stay. The island greens are the defining challenge of the round; iron play and distance control matter more than driving distance on the holes where they feature. At approximately 1,400 THB, it is priced at the accessible end of the Pattaya-area market. Weekday mornings are quietest. Confirm caddie and cart fees when booking as these are not consistently published across third-party platforms.
