Ponds are in play on multiple holes across all three nines, demanding thoughtful club selection and respect for the miss — short-sided into a bunker or long into water is a common result of misjudged approaches. The bunkers are positioned in classic Dye style to guard greens at the most likely approach angles, rewarding precise iron play rather than simply penalising the wide miss. Hills in the terrain create genuine elevation changes on several holes, altering both the visual challenge and the carry distances compared to what the yardage book suggests. The first 18-hole combination is considered the more challenging pairing; the A and B nines in particular are cited as championship standard by regular players.

Khao Kheow Country Club is located approximately 95km southeast of central Bangkok in Bangphra, Sriracha, Chonburi, at 220/15 Moo 12. The drive from Bangkok takes around 70 minutes via the Bang Na–Trat Expressway (Highway 7). The course is roughly 45 minutes north of central Pattaya city. Grab and pre-arranged golf transfers from Bangkok or Pattaya are the practical transport options.
