Imperial Lake View Resort and Golf Club is one of the most versatile golf facilities in the Hua Hin–Cha Am corridor, offering 36 holes across four distinct nine-hole courses that cater to a wide range of playing styles. The original layout was designed by American architect Roger Packard and opened in 1993; later expansion brought the total to 36 holes and introduced the varied character that the facility is known for today. Located on the Cha Am–Hua Hin bypass road in Phetchaburi province — approximately 35 minutes north of Hua Hin town and 200 kilometres from Bangkok — it is part of the Imperial Hotels group and offers accommodation and resort facilities alongside the golf. The four loops are named Mountain (A), Lake (B), Desert (C), and Links (D), each with its own terrain and design theme. At 1,200 THB per round (no weekday/weekend differential), the green fee is among the best value in the region for a 36-hole property of this quality. The club has hosted professional qualifying rounds and amateur tournaments, confirming that the standard of conditioning meets serious playing requirements.

Layout & playing experience

The four nine-hole loops at Imperial Lake View each offer a meaningfully different playing experience, making it one of the few facilities in Thailand where repeat visits feel genuinely varied. The Mountain Course plays through gentle elevation changes and tree-lined fairways, rewarding accuracy off the tee. The Lake Course is the most water-influenced loop, with a central lake complex coming into play on multiple holes and demanding precise distance control into the greens. The Desert Course takes its name from drier, more open terrain with sandy areas reminiscent of desert-style design, where wind plays a larger role and green approaches require controlled trajectories. The Links Course provides the most open, exposed experience with undulating fairways and fewer trees, testing course management in changeable conditions. Any two loops can be combined for a standard 18-hole round, and the most common pairings are Mountain/Lake and Desert/Links. Greens are maintained to a consistent standard throughout, and the layout regularly hosts amateur events and professional qualifying rounds. The shared cart (750 THB per two players) is the most economical way to get around if you prefer to ride.

Tips & what to know before you go

Imperial Lake View is closest to Bangkok of the major Hua Hin-area clubs — at 200 kilometres via the Phetkasem Highway, it is a realistic same-day trip for early starters from the capital. Book tee times in advance during the November-to-March high season, especially for weekends when both Bangkok day-trippers and resident expats make it busy. The Mountain and Lake combination is widely recommended as the most scenic 18-hole routing. Given the four distinct nines, pace of play is generally well-managed with good separation between groups. Bring rain gear from May to October when afternoon showers are common; morning rounds have the best weather and lighting conditions. Caddies know the course well and are worth listening to on the Lake and Desert loops where water and sandy areas punish mis-clubs. The green fee of 1,200 THB is the same every day of the week, which is unusual for Hua Hin and makes weekend rounds particularly good value. The driving range is a good warm-up option. Club rental is available on-site, and the resort's hotel facilities make it an easy overnight golf trip from Bangkok.

Location & getting there

Imperial Lake View Resort and Golf Club is located at 80 Moo 4, Hubkrapong–Pranburi Highway, Cha-Am, Phetchaburi province, approximately 200 kilometres south of Bangkok. The drive from central Bangkok via Highway 4 takes around two and a half hours. The club sits on the bypass road between Cha-Am and Hua Hin, making it straightforward to reach from either town: Cha-Am is around 15 minutes away and central Hua Hin is around 35 minutes by car. Minivan services from Victory Monument in Bangkok run regularly to Cha-Am and Hua Hin; from there, a taxi or Grab completes the journey to the course.
