Santiburi Samui Country Club is the only championship golf course on Koh Samui — an 18-hole, par 72 layout designed by Edward Thiele and Pirapon Namatra and opened in 2003 on the hills above the island's northern Mae Nam coast. The course hosted the 2006 Bangkok Airways Open and remains the standard-bearer for golf in the Gulf of Thailand islands, drawing visitors from Koh Samui's international resort hotels and golfers making dedicated trips from Bangkok and Phuket. The mountainous terrain that makes this course visually spectacular also makes it logistically distinctive: both caddie and cart are mandatory, with Santiburi's caddie ladies driving the carts across a layout where steep elevation changes and Gulf views define the character of the round. Green fees are 5,800 THB all-inclusive — caddie and cart bundled — with an Early Bird rate of approximately 3,550 THB for tee times from 6–7 AM. Club rental is available from 600 THB per set.

Layout & playing experience
Santiburi Samui Country Club routes across a mountainous interior site above Mae Nam Bay on Koh Samui's northern coast — not the flat coastal resort golf of the mainland, but an island layout shaped by significant elevation changes, dense tropical vegetation, and ocean panoramas that make the visual experience unique among Thai golf courses. At 6,930 yards from the gold/black tees (6,506 from blue), the course stretches to full championship length despite its challenging topography. The fairways negotiate the hill terrain through a series of elevated tee shots, blind approaches, and greens positioned at varying heights — a design vocabulary that demands accurate club selection and course management rather than raw distance. Prevailing Gulf breezes, stronger at elevation, add an additional strategic variable on the more exposed hilltop holes. Both caddie and cart are compulsory: the terrain makes walking impractical, and Santiburi's caddie ladies double as cart drivers — a service model unique among Koh Samui's golf offerings. The caddie team's knowledge of line, wind, and club selection on the dam-side holes is genuinely useful, particularly for first-time visitors unfamiliar with the island's wind patterns. The driving range, open daily from 6 AM, allows warm-up before what is a physically and strategically demanding 18 holes. Early Bird tee times (6–7 AM) offer a discounted all-in rate of approximately 3,550 THB — the best value entry point on the island.
Tips & what to know before you go

The all-in rate of 5,800 THB covers green fee, caddie, and cart — a 400–500 THB tip for the caddie is customary and not included. An Early Bird rate (approximately 3,550 THB all-in) is available for 6–7 AM tee times. Club rental starts from 600 THB per set — a practical option for golfers who flew in without equipment. Soft-spike shoes can be rented on site (200 THB). Koh Samui is served by Bangkok Airways from Suvarnabhumi (approximately 1.5 hours). The course is 10–15 minutes from the airport by Grab or taxi (Mae Nam area, northern coast). Most resort hotels are in Chaweng and Lamai on the east coast — allow 20–30 minutes from there. Golf on Koh Samui is best December to April (Gulf dry season). The island's northeast monsoon (October to January) can bring heavy rain — check weather before booking during shoulder months.
