Life Privilege Country Club — operating for years under the globally recognised Mission Hills brand before its rebranding — is a Jack Nicklaus Signature design set in the foothills outside Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima, at the gateway to Khao Yai National Park. Opened in 1993, the course benefits from an elevated position with panoramic views of forest and mountains, a dramatic contrast to the flat, delta-plains courses that dominate the Bangkok area. The Jack Nicklaus pedigree brings precise bunkering, elevated greens, and dramatic risk-reward par-5s typical of his signature style. The course is roughly two hours northeast of Bangkok and is frequently combined with a weekend visit to Khao Yai National Park or the wine country estates of the Pak Chong valley. It attracts serious golfers who value signature architecture in a scenic setting.

Layout & playing experience

The 18-hole par-72 layout measures 7,058 yards from the black tees and descends through five tee options, with the white tees at 5,765 yards offering an accessible version of the layout. Nicklaus's classic design elements are present throughout: generous fairways that tighten as they approach the green, strategically placed bunkers that frame approach angles, and putting surfaces with distinct tier systems that reward precise approach play. The mountain backdrop creates elevation changes uncommon in Thai golf, with some tee shots requiring careful club selection to account for altitude drops. The par-5s are particularly impressive, offering genuine eagle opportunities from good positions while severely punishing the greedy. Water features appear on approximately eight holes. The forest setting means wind is less of a factor here than on Bangkok's open courses, but the tree-lined corridors demand straight driving. The course has benefited from consistent maintenance across its three decades of operation.

Tips & what to know before you go

The venue is best combined with a weekend trip to Khao Yai — many visitors stay overnight at nearby resorts. The mountain setting means temperatures are 5–8°C cooler than Bangkok, making the cool season (November–February) particularly pleasant. The weekday green fee is substantially lower than weekends, making Monday–Friday rounds excellent value for a Nicklaus design. Book a caddie who is familiar with the Nicklaus-style raised greens — green reading is complex. The drive from Bangkok follows Route 1 (Mitraphap Highway) northbound; GPS the Pak Chong district.
