Friendship Meadows Country Club is one of the most affordable 18-hole golf experiences in the Khao Yai corridor — a Nelson & Haworth design opened in 1993 on the Mittraphap Highway at Km 162, Pak Chong district, Nakhon Ratchasima. Playing to par 72 across 6,531 yards from the blue tees, the course occupies a ridge of low mountains just outside Pak Chong town, giving it an undulating, naturally dramatic character that stands out from the flatter resort layouts in the region. Green fees start at just 600 THB on weekdays and 1,000 THB on weekends — among the lowest for a Nelson & Haworth-designed 18-hole course anywhere in Thailand. The layout suits golfers who enjoy hilly, varied terrain and precise ball-striking over raw length. Caddies, club hire, and electric cart hire are all available, making Friendship Meadows a practical destination even for visiting golfers without their own equipment. For value-driven Khao Yai golf, this course is a strong option.

Layout & playing experience

Friendship Meadows plays across a spine of mountain ridgeline, making it fundamentally different from the flat parkland layouts that dominate golf in the Bangkok basin. The Nelson & Haworth routing uses the ridge terrain to create downhill, uphill, and sidehill lies across multiple consecutive holes — a genuine test of course management and the ability to adjust for uneven stances. The fairways are tree-lined and relatively narrow in sections, placing a premium on accuracy off the tee over distance. Golfers who struggle to control the shape of their drives will find the elevated rough and undulating ground punishing. The par-3s make strong use of the elevation changes, with several requiring carries across valleys or playing significantly uphill, which creates club selection challenges that flatter-course golfers may find unfamiliar. The greens are moderate in size and feature the natural undulation of the hillside terrain, requiring attention to approach angle and landing zone. A golf cart is highly recommended given the elevation changes between holes — walking the full 18 holes in the Pak Chong heat without one is a significant physical undertaking. At 6,531 yards from the blue tees, Friendship Meadows is not a lengthy course by modern standards, but the hilly terrain means effective playing distance is considerably longer. Bogey golfers will find it a fair challenge; mid-handicappers who play smart will score well.

Tips & what to know before you go

The course is open to visitors every day of the week, with no advance booking minimum specified, making it suitable for spontaneous day trips. Green fees are 600 THB weekday and 1,000 THB weekend — budget an additional caddie tip of around 400 THB at the end of the round. Electric cart hire is available and strongly recommended given the hilly terrain; confirm availability and pricing when booking by calling +66 44 313 245. There is no driving range on site, so warm up with a short game practice on the putting green before your round if available. Club rental is available at the clubhouse for visitors who haven't brought their own equipment. Bring plenty of water — the Pak Chong heat and the physical demands of the hilly terrain make hydration critical, particularly from March through May. The cool season (November through February) delivers the most comfortable conditions: Pak Chong sits in the foothills at slightly higher elevation than Bangkok, so mornings are noticeably cooler. Pair Friendship Meadows with a round at nearby Kirimaya or Seoul Siam Resort for a full golf weekend in the Khao Yai area.
