Unico Grande Golf Course holds the distinction of being one of Bangkok's oldest golf clubs, having welcomed players since 1968. Designed by General Lek Smith, the course is a compact par-63 layout — a rare configuration in Thailand — making it an excellent choice for golfers who prioritise stroke play practice and want to sharpen their short-game skills rather than grind through a long par-72 round. Located in the Saphan Sung district of east Bangkok, just 20–25 minutes from the city centre, Unico Grande is unusually accessible for an in-city course. It attracts a loyal following of resident expats, Thai office workers, and visiting golfers looking for a quick afternoon round. Green fees are among the most affordable of any course inside the Bangkok city limits, and the mandatory caddie service is a genuine value-add at this price point.

Layout & playing experience
The 18-hole layout spans 3,656 yards from the blue tees, a reflection of its par-63 designation which includes an unusually high concentration of par-3 holes — reportedly 13 of the 18 holes are par-3s, making it closer in spirit to an executive or academy course than a full championship layout. The remaining holes are short par-4s, mostly under 380 yards, which rewards accuracy over raw power. Fairways are wide and forgiving by Bangkok standards, making the course accessible to higher handicappers and beginners. However, strategically placed bunkers and water hazards around the greens ensure that approach play still demands precision. The greens are of moderate size, well-maintained, and true-rolling. Cart paths wind through the parkland setting, which features mature trees that provide shade — a welcome feature during Thailand's hot season. Golfers can walk the course (carts do not go on the fairways), which adds to the classic feel of this vintage layout. The pace of play is typically brisk, and the course's compact nature means most rounds finish in under four hours.
Tips & what to know before you go
Book early on weekday mornings for the best pace of play — the course fills quickly given its low green fees and proximity to the city. Caddies are mandatory and well worth it; tip at least 400 THB. Bring sunscreen: the open fairways offer limited shade on hotter holes. Walking is standard here since golf carts are restricted to paths. The driving range is available for warm-up. Smart attire is required (no singlets or shorts without collars). Weekend rates nearly double, so weekday visits deliver the best value. The official website lists current seasonal rates.
Location & getting there
Unico Grande sits in Saphan Sung district, eastern Bangkok, just off Krungthepkreetha Road. It is roughly 18–20 km from the Sukhumvit area and about 20–25 minutes by car in light traffic. Public transport access is limited, so a taxi, Grab, or private transfer is the most practical option. There is ample parking on site. The course is close to the Ram Intra expressway interchange, making it reasonably easy to combine with a visit to the nearby Safari World or The Legacy Golf Club further east.
