Subhapruek Golf Club — formerly Bangna Country Club until its rebranding — is one of the most talked-about budget-to-mid-range courses in the Bangkok south corridor, and the presence of a Pete Dye design pedigree makes it a genuine curiosity. Opened in 1993 in Samut Prakan, the course sits between downtown Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi Airport and was designed by the legendary American architect Pete Dye. The Dye hallmarks are present: dramatic bunkering, psychological challenge, and a layout that rewards smart shot selection over brute force. The course is particularly celebrated for its distinctive driving range, which features floating island targets on a lake — a quirky but appealing warm-up facility. At 6,837 yards it provides a genuine test without being gratuitously long, and green fees sit comfortably in the mid-range bracket.

Layout & playing experience
Subhapruek's parkland layout converts flat, tropical terrain into a course that feels busier and more dynamic than its surroundings would suggest, through Dye's characteristic use of mounded bunkering, carefully sculpted landing areas, and strategic water placement. Water features on several holes demand carries of varying lengths, and the greenside hazards ensure that approach play must be precise. Fairways are of medium width, tighter than a typical Thai resort course, so driving accuracy pays dividends. Greens tend to be medium-sized and moderately undulating — challenging but fair. The signature experience at Subhapruek is the dramatic bunkering: deep, steep-walled traps that present genuine recovery challenges. From the back tees at 6,837 yards, the course plays to its par-72 rating honestly. Multiple tee positions make it accessible for golfers of all levels. The course is closed on Mondays for maintenance.
