Royal Dusit Golf Club
Royal Dusit Golf Club was one of Bangkok's most central and historic golf venues, situated at 183 Phitsanulok Road in the Dusit district, adjacent to the Royal Turf Club. It closed permanently in 2018 when the Crown Property Bureau reclaimed the racecourse site after 102 years; the grounds have since been redeveloped as King Rama IX Memorial Park. The course is operated under royal patronage — reflected in its formal name, "Dusit Golf Club under Royal Patronage" — giving it a ceremonial significance that few urban courses in Southeast Asia can match. In its day, the compact par-65 layout was a city-golf gem: tight fairways, narrow corridors threaded between mature trees, and numerous small lakes rewarded precision over power, and its famously low green fees made it popular with civil servants, military officers, and golfers from nearby hotels. Layout & playing experience
Royal Dusit's par-65 layout is deceptively demanding. The lower par is achieved through a compact design featuring four par-3s and three par-4s under 350 yards, but the numerous water features — khlongs and small retention lakes that thread through roughly a third of the holes — convert easy-looking approach shots into nervous flick wedges over open water. The mature trees lining every fairway mean errant drives rarely find rescue; recovery shots must be played sideways or punched low under canopy, rewarding golfers who think strategically rather than reaching for the driver on every tee. Several holes play across or alongside existing irrigation channels, incorporating the original Bangkok waterway network into the course architecture in a way that is both historic and tactically significant. The greens are modestly sized and generally flat, but the approach angles created by the tight tree corridors mean that missing the green in the wrong direction often produces a difficult recovery from under root-exposed tree bases or adjacent water. For golfers accustomed to open parkland courses, the claustrophobic fairways take a round or two to fully appreciate and navigate efficiently.

The course is closed and cannot be played. Golfers looking for a round inside or near central Bangkok should consider Krungthep Kreetha Sports Club or Royal Bangkok Sports Club (members/guests), or make the short trip north to the Muang Ake group in Pathum Thani — all covered in our Bangkok course guides. Royal Dusit Golf Club is located at 183 Phitsanulok Road, Dusit, Bangkok 10300, within the government precinct between Khaosan Road and the old parliament building. The site sits approximately 4 kilometres northwest of the Siam BTS station, near Victory Monument. Since 2018 it has no longer operated as a golf course; the land now forms part of King Rama IX Memorial Park.
