Pinehurst Golf & Country Club is one of Bangkok's most historic courses — opened in 1988 in Pathum Thani and designed by Japanese architect Yoshihara Aihara, it pre-dates much of the capital's golf boom and carries a distinguished tournament pedigree, having hosted the Johnnie Walker Classic in 1992 and the Thailand Open in 1994. The 27-hole complex gives golfers exceptional flexibility, combining the North Lake, South Greenfield, and West Forest nines into three different 18-hole configurations. Its proximity to Don Mueang Airport (just 15 minutes) makes it an obvious choice for travellers passing through the north of the city. Green fees remain very accessible, and VIP-branded golf carts add a quirky luxury touch. Night-lit holes allow for twilight and evening rounds — a practical advantage in Bangkok's heat.

Layout & playing experience
The three nine-hole loops at Pinehurst offer meaningfully different characters. The North Lake nine plays like a classic American-style layout with open fairways, strategic lake carries, and greens that reward run-up approaches. The South Greenfield nine is the smoothest and flattest of the three, providing a more traditional parkland feel with moderate bunkering and generous landing areas — suitable for higher handicappers. The West Forest nine is the most demanding, threading through denser vegetation with tighter fairways, more water hazards, and mounded rough that requires precision off the tee. Combining the North and West loops produces the most challenging 18-hole test. Greens across all three nines are well-maintained and roll at medium pace. The overall design philosophy favours variety and entertainment over pure difficulty, making Pinehurst a popular choice for groups of mixed ability. Night lighting on selected holes extends the playing day and is particularly popular in the hot season.
