Muang Ake Golf Course is the original and oldest of the three golf courses developed by the Muang Ake Group in Pathum Thani province, north of Bangkok. Opened in 1986, it occupies a prime position just off the Phahonyothin Highway in Lak Hok — one of the most accessible locations of any 18-hole course in the greater Bangkok area, roughly 30 kilometres from the city centre. The course is a parkland layout with a notably shorter yardage (6,380 yards) compared to many Bangkok-area courses, making it genuinely welcoming to higher handicappers, beginners, and golfers looking for an enjoyable round without the pressure of a demanding championship layout. Its very affordable green fees make it popular among local Thai golfers and expats seeking regular weekday play, and the proximity to Don Mueang Airport (approximately 10 minutes) makes it a convenient first- or last-day option for travellers transiting through Thailand.

Layout & playing experience

The 18-hole par-72 layout stretches 6,380 yards from the back tees, playing shorter from the middle markers — a flat, tree-lined parkland course in the classic Thai tradition. Fairways are generous and the rough is manageable, placing the primary emphasis on approach accuracy and putting rather than driving power. Water features on several holes add interest without creating unfair penalisation. The greens, while not at championship speed, putt consistently and reward well-struck approaches. Because the course is popular with regular local players, caddies know every green slope intimately and their advice on club selection and line is usually reliable. The calm, unhurried atmosphere — a deliberate product of sensible tee-time spacing — makes for an enjoyable round at a pace that Bangkok's busier courses rarely achieve.

Tips & what to know before you go

At this price point, Muang Ake Golf Course is exceptional value and worth booking even on a casual schedule. Arrive early on weekday mornings for the freshest greens and quietest experience. The course is directly off Phahonyothin Highway, making it easy to reach from central Bangkok or Don Mueang Airport without a GPS. Caddie fees are included in the green fee package; a tip of 200–300 THB is customary. Clubs for hire are available on-site at modest cost. The course is also a convenient warm-up round before attempting one of the more demanding courses in the Muang Ake complex.
