Kiarti Thanee Country Club is one of the longer-established courses in the greater Bangkok area, opened in 1989 along the Bangna-Trad highway in Samut Prakan — the same road corridor that leads to Pattaya. Designed by Japanese architect Yoshiharu Ihara and extensively renovated in 2003–2004 by Kato Yoshikazu, the 18-hole, par-72 layout stretches 6,905 yards and is particularly popular with Japanese golfers, reflecting the strong Japanese business community in Bangkok's Bangna industrial zone. Over 300 experienced caddies are employed at the club, and the training level shows in reviews. Weekday green fees of approximately 2,100 THB (before caddie and cart) are reasonable for a well-maintained facility. The club also offers tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a golf lodge, making it functional for mixed groups.

Layout & playing experience

The 18-hole layout is flat — as is characteristic of Samut Prakan — but the Japanese-influenced design uses strategically placed bunkers, tree clusters, and canals crossing and running alongside fairways to impose difficulty without relying on topography. The course rating and description mark it as 'harder than it appears': the flat fairways look inviting from the tee, but precise approaches to fast, demanding greens are required to score well. The extensive renovation in 2004 refreshed the greens and bunkering, and the conditioning is maintained at a high standard. At 6,905 yards from the back, it provides a proper test for single-digit handicappers while remaining playable from the regular tees at 6,451 yards.

Tips & what to know before you go

Weekday green fees are 2,100 THB; weekend 2,800 THB (before caddie and cart). Book at least one day in advance for weekdays, two days for weekends. Up to 6 golfers per group on weekdays (5 on weekends), which is unusually generous. The driving range and excellent practice facilities mean you can warm up properly before the round. Metal spikes are not permitted. After the round, the on-site spa and sauna make a sensible recovery stop before the 45-minute drive back into Bangkok.
