Mae Jo Golf Club & Resort is an 18-hole, par-72 course in the Pahpai area of San Sai district, approximately 20 kilometres and 20 minutes north of central Chiang Mai. Opened in 2004 and designed by Thai architect Seni Thirawat, the course is set among the fruit orchards of the San Sai valley — longan, lychee, pomelo, and tangerine trees that change character dramatically with the seasons. The resort includes 51 rooms in a Lanna-style complex. Mae Jo is consistently praised for its subtly challenging greens and narrow, tree-framed fairways that reward precision over power.

Layout & playing experience
Seni Thirawat's design favours precision over power. At 6,730 yards from the championship tees, the narrow fairways and strategically placed doglegs ensure that driving accuracy is more valuable than distance. The greens are the course's defining feature: subtly sloping putting surfaces that reward careful line-reading. Water hazards appear throughout the round without dominating it. The combination of tight fairways, tricky greens, and seasonal agricultural character makes Mae Jo one of the most authentically Thai golf experiences in the Chiang Mai region.
Tips & what to know before you go
Ask your caddie to read the greens carefully — the slopes are subtler than they appear. The standard green fee is 3,200 THB (green fee only) plus caddie 350 THB and cart 750 THB, totalling approximately 4,300 THB all-in. Promotional rates as low as 1,800 THB may be available through booking platforms. Visit between November and April when orchard trees are carrying fruit. The narrow fairways reward a controlled, shaped tee shot.
